| His orthopedic residency was completed at University of California, Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.), and he spent an additional year in specialized training as the "Joseph Boyes Hand Surgical Fellow''. Dr. Hanker is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery. He holds the academic position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Southern California. In this capacity he is actively engaged in the post doctoral training of hand surgical fellows. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society of Surgery of the Hand, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the California Medical Association. He is a Qualified Medical Examiner (Q.M.E.) for the State of California Industrial Medical Council, Department Of Industrial Relations. As the Team Physician for several San Fernando Valley high schools and junior colleges, Dr. Hanker is active in the sports medical care of our local athletes. He was a Sports Physician at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Dr. Hanker has written numerous scientific articles and textbook chapters on hand and upper extremity surgery, joint replacement surgery, and multiple aspects of wrist arthroscopy.
