Physical Therapy Services

Physical Therapy
(available in Van Nuys, Valencia, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks)

General outpatient physical therapy consists of evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction, pre- and postoperative care, joint and muscle rehabilitation and sports injuries. Services include aquatic therapy, specialized programs for the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, foot and ankle, and a comprehensive spine rehabilitation program.

Programs are tailored to meet the needs of all patients, from the worker's compensation patient to the geriatric population, and to both athletes and non-athletes alike. The skills of our highly trained clinical staff and our state-of-the-art equipment, including a wide array of weight machines, elliptical trainers, treadmills, steppers, upper body ergometers, and modalities, provide the individual with the optimal environment to rehab and gain maximum function.

Hand Therapy
(Our physical therapists treat hand disorders at all locations; however licensed hand therapy with an occupational therapist is offered only in Van Nuys and Valencia)

A specialty in itself, our Hand Therapy treats a broad spectrum of conditions, ranging in diagnosis from carpal tunnel syndrome to flexor tendon repair to complex fracture reconstruction. Custom splinting, desensitization, wound care, paraffin, edema control, and BTE testing and training are some of the services available.

Aquatic Therapy
(available in Van Nuys)

Our 700 square foot, indoor shallow and deep water heated pool is available for patients with upper and lower extremity injuries as well as spinal conditions.

Med-X
(available in Van Nuys)

A computerized equipment tool used for evaluating and training the cervical and lumbar extensor muscles.  This machine is unique in that it isolates the extensor muscle groups by a pelvic and shoulder restraint system.

Precise measurements of range of motion, strength and endurance are compared to established norms. Then a progressive strengthening program is developed to isolate and strengthen the identified weakened area.\

Biodex
(available in Van Nuys)

The Biodex is a multi-function isokinetic device used for testing and training of the extremities. Test results can be used to identify weak areas in the extremity, allowing the therapist to customize a training program specifically for the individual patient.

BTE
(available in Van Nuys)

The BTE functions as a work simulator, duplicating many work related tasks and activities of daily living. The BTE is used for treatment, evaluation and ergonomic analysis in both acute and chronic conditions. It is useful in increasing range of motion, strength, and endurance, and improves general body conditioning. The BTE is effective in patients who require job task simulation to allow for a faster and safer return to work.

Interx
(available in Van Nuys, Valencia, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks)

The Interx 5002 is an effective, comfortable, non-drug pain relief that is unlike any other electric-based modalities. The Interx unit detects changes in the tissue’s electrical properties resulting from injury and pain. By measuring and monitoring impedance of the tissue, the Interx provides ever-adapting, pain relieving electrical treatment optimally targeted at the problematic tissue and its nerve endings. Other forms of electro-stimulation, such as TENS or interferential, merely blanket an area with non-specific stimulation to these disrupted nerve endings.

Sonorex
(available in Van Nuys)

A non-surgical treatment for pain associated with tendinopathies of subacute and chronic nature.  Also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) uses acoustic energy pulses to treat the affected area.  Sonorex is prescribed by the physician for patients who have had pain for at least six months and have tried traditional methods of relief, such as Physical or Occupational Therapy, Cold Packs, anti-inflammatory medications or injections.

ASTYM
(available in Van Nuys, Valencia, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks)

Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization. A manual therapy approach utilizing specialized tools which address scarring, fibrosis, and degeneration that occur in soft tissues.  These conditions result from trauma, surgery, and overuse.
