“I had a torn meniscus in my left leg and Dr. Shamblin performed the surgery to fix it in July 2012. He did a fantastic job. I had no pain after the surgery and I was putting weight on that leg the day after surgery. That leg is now completely healed, and I am having no problems with it whatsoever. I then tore my meniscus in my right knee a few months later. Dr. Shamblin performed surgery on that one on December 17, 2012, and once again I could not be happier. Although the surgery on this one was a little more extensive, I had very little pain after surgery, and two days after surgery, I am able to put a little weight on that leg and walk (hobble) around. Not only is Dr. Shamblin a fantastic doctor, the entire staff at SCOI is amazing, including the staff at the Bahamas Surgery Center. I would definitely recommend this facility over and over again.”

“I broke my kneecap on June 1, 2013, while on vacation in Cozumel, Mexico. I was admitted to their hospital and remained there 3 nights, while waiting to get plane reservations to return home. I arrived in Bakersfield about midnight on June 4. My insurance arranged an appointment with Lesley the following day at noon. I also saw Dr. Schamblin at that appointment and they scheduled surgery for June 11th. I was in a wheelchair for at least 2 months and a brace to keep my knee from bending. A walker followed that and then a cane. I finally started therapy but my knee would not bend after such a long time. The doctor scheduled a second surgery on Oct 15 to remove all the wiring, scar tissue, and did a manipulation on my knee. I started therapy again the very next day and started seeing progress. My last therapy session was November 19th. I had reached a ROM of 122/135. Both of my doctors and myself are very happy with the results. I may never be 100 percent but I am able to do everything I need to do. -- Lillian W.”
