Dr. Hamilton Performs First MISHA Knee System Implantation in Kern County

On August 22, 2024, Dr. Christopher Hamilton made an incredible breakthrough in orthopedic care by completing the first implantation of the MISHA Knee System in Kern County. The MISHA Knee System is the world’s first implantable shock absorber, designed to help patients with knee osteoarthritis maintain their mobility and activity without requiring a total or partial knee replacement.

Dr. Hamilton, a leader in joint preservation, is excited about the opportunities this new technology presents for patients who are not ready for more invasive procedures like osteotomy or joint replacement surgery. The MISHA Knee System acts as a bridge, offering relief to a very active group of arthritis patients who wish to stay mobile and delay more aggressive interventions.

Dr. Hamilton commented on the significance of this advancement:

"The MISHA Knee System is an exciting new development for patients with medical knee osteoarthritis who are not ready for a total or partial knee replacement. It provides a bridge between major osteotomy surgery and joint replacement in select patients. It expands our ability to treat a very active subset of arthritis patients and is an advancement for our goal of joint preservation and delaying replacement while allowing patients to maintain mobility and activity."

This cutting-edge technology is part of Southern California Orthopedic Institute's ongoing mission to provide the latest in joint preservation techniques and to improve outcomes for patients with knee osteoarthritis. The MISHA Knee System represents a significant step forward in orthopedic innovation, allowing us to better tailor treatment plans for our patients.
