Dr. Mark Getelman to Be Inducted Into Southern California Super Doctors Hall of Fame
Dr. Mark Getelman has been named an inductee of the Southern California Super Doctors Hall of Fame. This recognition comes after over 12 consecutive years of Dr. Getelman being selected for the Super Doctors listing, demonstrating his excellence and dedication in orthopedic care. A fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Getelman serves shoulder, knee and sports medicine patients at Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Van Nuys at 6815 Noble Ave. and in Westlake Village at 30870 Russell Ranch Road.
After being selected through an extensive process over a dozen times, Dr. Getelman was chosen to be a Super Doctors Hall of Fame recipient. Each year’s Super Doctors listing is based on a multitude of qualifying factors, including a survey of doctors, independent evaluation of candidates by research staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area and a good-standing and disciplinary check. Earning a spot in the Super Doctors Hall of Fame reflects Dr. Getelman’s dedication to patient-centered care and advancing his specialty field of orthopedic sports medicine.
Dr. Getelman has taught advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques to physicians nationwide and worldwide. He is currently the co-director of the prestigious Southern California Orthopedic Institute Sports Medicine Fellowship Program and has participated in the training of over 50 orthopedic fellows since joining Southern California Orthopedic Institute. Additionally, Dr. Getelman has published articles on shoulder, knee and ankle topics. He has written several textbook chapters, and he has also presented scientific papers at national orthopedic meetings.

A graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Getelman completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Boston University and spent one year as an orthopedic trauma fellow at Boston City Hospital and one year as a sports medicine and adult reconstructive surgery fellow at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston. He was an associate team physician at Boston College and the resident sports medicine director at Boston University from 1995 to 1996. Subsequently, he completed a one-year fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery at Southern California Orthopedic Institute, where he practices shoulder, knee and sports medicine care today.
