Dr. Jaivin was raised in Connecticut and graduated with honors from Brown University.

After conducting research in microsurgery and limb development at Massachusetts General Hospital, he attended the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. In medical school, he received academic awards, including Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery and was elected president of his class.

After his internship and residency in general surgery at Hartford Hospital, Dr. Jaivin completed a second residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Connecticut Combined Program. He joined Southern California Orthopedic Institute after completing a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Jaivin served as a medical volunteer in a mud-walled clinic in East Africa and has traveled extensively in China. He has co-authored a book chapter on tropical medicine and has authored a variety of articles on orthopedic surgery topics. He is actively involved in orthopedic research.

Dr. Jaivin, board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an active member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. As the team physician for Notre Dame High School, Dr. Jaivin is active in the care of local athletes. He is a qualified medical examiner (QME) for the State of California Industrial Medical Council, Department of Industrial Relations.

Both Dr. Jaivin and his wife Melissa are avid outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy biking, running, sailing, and swimming.
