Dr. Auerbach was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised on Long Island. His undergraduate degree was earned at the State University of New York at Albany. He graduated from Medical School and completed his Internship and Orthopedic Residency at State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn.
He spent a year in subspecialty training as a Fellow in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital/Medical College of Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Auerbach is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is a Qualified Medical Examiner (Q.M.E.) for the State of California Industrial Medical Council Department of Industrial Relations.
Dr. Auerbach has been involved in both basic science and clinical research, giving presentations at national and international meetings on hand and upper extremity anatomy, surgical reconstruction and skin grafting. Dr. Auerbach is a consultant for a number of orthopedic technology companies and is an inventor of surgical instruments with several United States Patents. He has authored textbook chapters and technique guides on the fixation of hand fractures and endoscopic carpal tunnel release, as well as wrist, elbow and shoulder arthroscopy.
Dr. Auerbach travels extensively around the world and enjoys sports, music, art and theater.
