Todd D. Moldawer, MD, enjoys nationwide prominence as an expert orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of injuries and disorders of the spine, which cause pain in the neck or back.
Dr. Moldawer employs both surgical and nonsurgical treatment for patients with herniated disc and spinal stenosis—a painful disorder resulting from pressure on the nerve roots usually caused by arthritis of the spine or a spinal injury.
Dr. Moldawer attended Temple University School of Medicine and thereafter performed a four-year orthopedic surgery residency at the Hahnemann University Hospital. Dr. Moldawer then became the chief resident of orthopedic surgery at the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Although Dr. Moldawer was qualified to begin his career as an orthopedic surgeon, he instead decided to complete advanced training in the form of a fellowship. A fellowship requires a doctor to spend one full year tutored by a well-respected mentor. Dr. Moldawer's mentor was one of the nation' expert spinal surgeons, Alexander Brodsky, MD, in Houston, Texas. It was this fellowship that launched Dr. Moldawer's subspecialization into spinal problems.
Dr. Moldawer is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Academy of Pain Management.
Many seek Dr. Moldawer's expert opinion concerning matters within his medical expertise. Dr. Moldawer is a qualified medical examiner (QME) and an agreed medical examiner (AME) for the State of California Industrial Medical Council, Department of Industrial Relations. He also performs independent medical evaluations (IME) to resolve medical-legal disputes.
Dr. Moldawer has testified as an expert witness on many occasions. He is frequently asked to provide opinions about the nature and extent of spinal injuries as well as the more complex issue of causation and apportionment. Dr. Moldawer is routinely retained as an expert witness for both plaintiffs and defendants.
Dr. Moldawer is often consulted concerning issues of medical malpractice. In these cases, he must evaluate whether another doctor's practice of medicine was negligent. This certainly illustrates the caliber of Dr. Moldawer's experience and reputation in the community of orthopedic surgeons.
