Phu Phan, MPAS, PA-C, was born in Saigon, Vietnam, but he had been raised in Los Angeles ever since he immigrated to the U.S. as a 4-year-old. He received a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of California – Los Angeles with a major in physiological science and a minor in public health. Thereafter, Phu attended Hofstra University, where he earned his Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies.
Phu's interest in orthopedics began at UCLA where he treated various sports injuries as a student assistant to the athletic trainers. His passion in this field only intensified during his rotations in New York. Phu gained experience not only in managing post-traumatic fractures, but he also participated in many interesting orthopedic procedures.
As a physician assistant, Phu assesses and treats a multitude of musculoskeletal injuries. In the clinic, he examines patients, orders and interprets labs and diagnostic tests, performs therapeutic injections, formulates treatment plans, and provides preoperative and postoperative assessments. In the operating room, Phu assists Dr. Jaime Hernandez with arthroscopic, trauma, and total joint replacement surgeries.
Phu Phan is fluent in Vietnamese. During his free time, he likes to play basketball, football, and tennis along with hiking, biking, and traveling.
